Puppy Love #2 & Free Envelope Template

This is the second card I made with the Recollections stamp set called Valentine’s day. This card is made almost identical to the first one with two differences – the background and I partially cut out the puppies before adhering them to the card front.

If you are interested in seeing the first card and instructions on how to make it you will find it here. and I have a video here that describes the products a little more.  I will have a tutorial video on Friday showing how I made the cards if you would like to watch that for further instructions.

I am creating some custom envelopes to go with the cards. Envelopes are really easy to make and you can customize them to any size card you are creating. I have a copy of the envelope template you can print out and create your own envelope.Envelope Template  Print it out on white or colored paper or you can do like I did and pull it into a software program like Photoshop and fill with a pattern if you like.

Today I am using 33 lb premium laser jet paper.  It is a little heavier than regular copy paper. I printed it onto a piece of pattern paper I created from Photoshop.   The pattern has a slight hint of pink with some circle dots that are random all over the page. I wanted to have a little interest on the inside of the card. I will prepare the envelope so that the pattern is in the inside.

I have cut out the template and then I fold back all the pieces of the envelope.

Now I am going to do some stamping on it before I show you how to assemble the envelope. I am using the sentiment stamp XOXO, the paw and the heart and I will stamp a pattern around the bottom of the card with some red and black die ink.

To seal the envelope I am using some be creative adhesive and place on both sides of the envelope. You will want to use an adhesive that is strong and will hold the envelope.

I then stamp some more on the other side of the envelope. This is a great way to customize your envelopes and use your stamps more.

Join me on Wednesday where I will share the last card I made and a recipe for home-made glue so you can seal the envelopes or give them to someone as a gift.  You can always use a matching washi tape to close the envelopes as well.

I am entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.

Go do something creative today.  I would love to see what you are working on.  Leave me a comment and a picture!

Black Bean Burgers

Are you looking for some make ahead freezer friendly ideas for your weekly meal prep? This recipe freezes well and you have clean healthy ingredients all packed into a burger and ready to go when you need a quick meal or hearty snack. Plus these burgers are full of flavor, vegetarian and could be plugged into your meatless Monday menu. You can use black beans in a can but it is really easy to cook black beans that have been dried and much more economical.  I cook a whole bag in my pressure cooker and then freeze 1 cup portions so I have them ready when I need them.

Valentine’s Day Card – Puppy Love #1

Simon Says Stamp card challenge anything goes

Stamp set is recollections Valentine’s Day.

This week I am playing with some of my supplies from my recent craft haul.  During the week I will post the cards I made and on Friday I will have a video showing how the cards were all put together.

I am entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Card challenge. You can find the link here.

Let’s get started with a list of supplies you will need to make this card. I will create a link to the supplies at the end of the post in the event you are interested in using the same supplies. I am using affiliate links and will be paid a small commission. It does not increase the amount you pay but helps to pay for the cost of running this blog.

SUPPLIES

Card base – Neenah Black Card stock 110 lb  card stock cut to 5.5 x 4.25.
Recollections stamp set Valentine’s Day
W plus 9 fence border die cut
My paper studio paper set called so-so sweet
My favorite things red hybrid ink pad
Versafine onyx black ink
Neenah solar white 80 lb card stock – used to stamp out dogs
Copic’s I used:

Male dog E35, E43
Scissors
Adhesive
Dynamics tag builder
Dynamics blueprint
Wink and of Stella, clear
Die ink: red, aqua mist, scarlet jewel

When I am designing cards I don’t really know what I am going to do specifically, I just get out some supplies and try to match up the colors I am going to use with the papers and then I just start trying different things. Put since I have created this card I can give you step by step instructions and I will recreate the card and add photos to aid you in the process.

Step One – card base
I used the black card stock that is 8.5 x 11. I cut it in half and scored in the middle so the finished dimension is 5.5 x 4.25.

Step Two – use the white card stock, cut it into a rectangle that is 5″ x 2.5″ and stamp the dogs facing each other. Stamp the hearts over the male dog. Please note that when you use die ink as it dries it fills in the paper. So when you first stamp the image it looks blotchy. I will let the ink dry a little before I color.

Step Three – cut out your fence. I used my Sizzix to cut.

Step Four – Cut out the rectangular scallops that will be used to border the card.

Step Five – cut out the rectangle shaped piece from the aqua heart card stock. This will cover the base of the card and the scalloped rectangles.

Step Six – Stamp out the sentiment “XOXO” using red die ink and then die cut it using the tag die from the make a tag dynamics set.

Step Seven – Color the dogs in using the copic markers and outline with a fine black pen. I used the clear wink of stella pen to add some sparkle to the hearts.

Then I used a copic marker B000 and outlined all around the dogs and the hearts. This will make the stamped images pop a little from the white background.

Step Eight – Now it is time to assemble the card. Adhere the scallop panels to the card base. I used my tape runner.

Then adhere the aqua rectangle heart card stock on top of the scallop panels.

Then use some foam tape to adhere to the fence and the sentiment so it rises up a little from the base. I always add my signature and the year to the back of the card.

This completes the card. Here is a link to a video showing more of the supplies I used. Be sure to check back on Friday for the video showing how to make this card and the other cards I made using this stamp set. I am really trying to stretch the use of stamp sets. I hope you will check back often and most importantly go do something creative today! Leave me a comment and post a picture of your creative project.
