SSS September 2017 Card Kit – Birthday Card

I made a video showing how I created this birthday card from the September 2017 card kit from Simon Says Stamp.  I am entering this card in the following card challenges.

SSS Wednesday Challenge

Here is the link to the video.

I also made some other cards using this kit.  Below are the photos.

For this card I used the rainbow stamp and stamped it so it formed a circle.  I colored it using sharpies.  I found the fine stamped image easiest to color with fine tip points.  I used copic markers to color the card above and it was challenging to stay in the lines! I stamped the candles, sentiments and other images with memento die ink.  I used a versa mark ink pad and stamped over the double rainbow image and applied clear embossing powder several times to make the image have some dimension and shine.  I cut out that circle and then used to die circles to create the yellow frame around the rainbow.  I finished off the card with some sequins.

The next card I made was inspired by a video I saw from Kristina Werner.  I used glossy accents on the heart rainbow image which is directly stamped on my panel.

The last card was the inspiration for the card I made the video on.  It has just a slightly different version of the above card.

SSS April 2017 Card Kit

Today I am sharing my recent project using the SSS April 2017 card kit. I was driving home from work thinking about what I could make with the kit that I had not already seen a video of or post of and the idea of a quad folding card with peek-a-boo windows popped into my head! Here is what I came up with.

I made a video on how I put the card together. I had lots of technical difficulties. My video card filled up and when i went to upload to my computer my hard disk was full so it took me a couple of days to get this figured out. I am just happy I was finally able to get a video uploaded!

    Steps to make the card:
    1. The base of the card is a sheet of 80 lb Neenah solar white. Make 4 score marks at 2.75 inches. Fold the panels and run your score knife over to create a nice flat crease.
    2. Use a circle die to cut out the peek-a-boos. I cut these on the first and second panels.
    3. Cut out coordinating paper to glue over the top of your panels. Cut these just slightly smaller than 2.75. I then lined them up and took a pencil to trace in where the circle goes. Punch them out and then glue your panels down. I tried this process several ways, by gluing the colored sheet to the Neenah solar white before scoring and die cutting and the paper was too thick to score nicely or run thru my big shot. I also tried gluing the colored panels down after they were cut into 2.75 inch panels but before the die cut and that did not work either. So the first method ending up being the best.
    4. To make the belly band. Cut a piece of paper an inch or so wide and about 5 inches long center it over the center of your card and fold. Secure the folded edges with a strong adhesive. I used score tape. Then use whatever kind of die cut you have on hand that is an inch or two wide. I used a 2 inch scallop punch on one card and I had an oval die from a hero arts card kit I had to make the second. Then I stamped and heat embossed with a card cold powder “Hand Made With Love on my punch and glued it to the belly band strip. The belly band will slide back and forth off the card.
    5. Here is my practice sheet with the copic colors I used to color the critters.

To make the envelope I used a sheet of 32 lb HP laser paper. Score, fold and create a crease about 1″ wide on the long side of the paper. Then fold it in half. Take your finished card and place on top, Cut of excess so it fits your card. Then take a strong adhesive. I used score tape and close up the ends. I came back with the balloon stamps to match the envelope to the card. If you would like to see a video of how I made this leave me a comment and I will make a video! To secure the envelope when I give it to the person I will use washi tape.

If you would like a link to any of the supplies I used. Leave me a comment and I will get you the source information,

Thanks for visiting and go do something creative today! I am entering this card in the SSSwednesdaychallenge and Through the Craftroom challenge

Puppy Love #3 & Homemade Glue For Envelopes Recipe

Here is card number 3 from this weeks series working with the Recollections Valentine Day stamp set.

To make this card I am using the make a tag die from the die-namics kit.  The concept of the card is the same as the first two cards.  You can follow the detailed instructions thru step 3 .I am using Neenah Black Card stock as the base of my card.  I cut out the tags and adhered them to the card base with my tape runner.  I stamped out the dogs but this time I cut them out after going around and highlighting each dog with a B000 comic marker.  This helps to make the dogs pop a little from the page.

I used both the “XOXO” sentiment and the “Puppy Love” sentiment on this card. I am using foam tape adhesive to mount them to the card as I want to add some dimension on the page.

I use some black and white twine and insert it into the wholes at the top of the tag and tie I bow.  I think this adds some extra interest to the card.

If you missed my first post in this series you will find it here.

I provided an envelope template in my second post here. I also promised a recipe for home-made glue for envelopes.  You can download it here. Recipe for Home-Made Glue For Envelopes  If you missed my post on how to make envelopes yourself you can find it here along with a template for an envelope you can down load, print and cut.

I am entering this card in the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge.

Puppy Love #2 & Free Envelope Template

This is the second card I made with the Recollections stamp set called Valentine’s day. This card is made almost identical to the first one with two differences – the background and I partially cut out the puppies before adhering them to the card front.

If you are interested in seeing the first card and instructions on how to make it you will find it here. and I have a video here that describes the products a little more.  I will have a tutorial video on Friday showing how I made the cards if you would like to watch that for further instructions.

I am creating some custom envelopes to go with the cards. Envelopes are really easy to make and you can customize them to any size card you are creating. I have a copy of the envelope template you can print out and create your own envelope.Envelope Template  Print it out on white or colored paper or you can do like I did and pull it into a software program like Photoshop and fill with a pattern if you like.

Today I am using 33 lb premium laser jet paper.  It is a little heavier than regular copy paper. I printed it onto a piece of pattern paper I created from Photoshop.   The pattern has a slight hint of pink with some circle dots that are random all over the page. I wanted to have a little interest on the inside of the card. I will prepare the envelope so that the pattern is in the inside.

I have cut out the template and then I fold back all the pieces of the envelope.

Now I am going to do some stamping on it before I show you how to assemble the envelope. I am using the sentiment stamp XOXO, the paw and the heart and I will stamp a pattern around the bottom of the card with some red and black die ink.

To seal the envelope I am using some be creative adhesive and place on both sides of the envelope. You will want to use an adhesive that is strong and will hold the envelope.

I then stamp some more on the other side of the envelope. This is a great way to customize your envelopes and use your stamps more.

Join me on Wednesday where I will share the last card I made and a recipe for home-made glue so you can seal the envelopes or give them to someone as a gift.  You can always use a matching washi tape to close the envelopes as well.

I am entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.

Go do something creative today.  I would love to see what you are working on.  Leave me a comment and a picture!
